Autodetect

#1 Post by gg3761 » Fri Oct 29, 2004 12:27 am

When i'm on the IBM website the autodetect feature does work on my T42 lately. On the warranty lookup site i get a message that an ActiveX plugin needs to be installed if SP2 is installed for the system to work but i don't get the dropdown bar that asks if i would like to install it.
Any ideas? I do have SP2 installed.

What browser are you using? I always use Firefox, and on that site I have to use IE.

You need to make sure that you allow it to run remote activeX scripts. It should be under the security settings or something like that.

I had the same results on my T40 after trying to install the new Access IBM Message Center (I think it came out in May). The install always failed and resulted in breaking the IBM ActiveX plugins. After numerous nights trying to figure out how to get the ActiveX plugins re-installed, I re-installed the old Message Center and gave up on ever getting the new version installed. I think that I attempted to use IBM Access Support (which may be no longer supported and may not have come as an option on your machine). Then I chose the "View System Details" option which then gave me the choice of allowing the ActiveX plugin ... after trying a few of the different options in the IBM Access Support package, I returned to the Warranty and other options for detecting my machine at the IBM websites and they began working again. It also caused my IBM Update Connector to start working again. Good luck.
