Extended Desktop

#1 Post by kintoro » Mon Aug 27, 2007 2:25 pm

I am new to the tablet and Thinkpad world and so far am very impressed. One issue I am having is when I am in my office and I extend my desktop on to my secondary monitor. I want to make my secondary monitor my primary input and viewing device and basically keep one note up on the my tablet for making notes. This all works well except when I make the secondary monitor the primary viewing window it loads the pen input bar on the secondary monitor which makes it inoperable. I have just been leaving the thinkpad as the primary but this puts the start bar at the bottom of the tablet as well as the alt-tab window on the tablet.

Sorry this is long but I wanted to be clear. I would like the secondary monitor to by my primary screen but the pen input to still show on the tablet. Any idea?

Thanks!
K

I know the pain. This is an issue with Windows, I guess. It's like the pen/touch input is only for the primary desktop, how stupid, isnt it? You could use UltraMon it will change the primary monitor, or rather move alt-tab, and taskbar to what windows thinks is its secondary monitor. It could also put a second taskbar on your tablet, and make some sweet things with your wallpaper. Nice app overall.

Seems that on my X60 Tablet, I could change the primary monitor with the Intel Graphics driver settings.

I don't like using that utility for video settings because it causes the screen to flash and rotate as it's changing from one configuration to another.

But it might be worth it to you.
Assuming your tablet has the Intel Graphics.
Even if it doesn't the chip utility may have similar functionality.
X60 Tablet. 2GB memory. 120GB HD. SXVGA. 8 cell battery. Vista Business.
