$800 is way too much. You can get a nicer T60 with more warranty for $800. And the T43 has various design flaws.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

That's what I thought.. I'm prepared to spend 500.00 on a T42 decently equipped. The biggies that are important to me is SXGA+ and something in good condition.
If I can find a T60 or something for only 200 more, I'd do that in a heartbeat.
You guys are the best!

T43s are overpriced IMHO, in the sense that they are not old enough for the price to have dropped as much.
And yes, $800 on this T43 was wayyyy too much.
CSRO, are graphics card useful to you at all ?

Yes, a good graphics card is impprtant to me as I use photoshop, flash, fireworks a lot but I am mostly into music production.
Basically I want a T42 43 or 60 and my budget is 500-700 (i'd do 800 on a killer deal).
What is real important to me is an sxga+ screen. I have a T43 ips flex now (in getting upfrades) but I want a 14'' 4:3 to take to work with me because they are light. I NEED the WS because working with music tracks, the width is more important than height with Logic Pro, Sony Acid, my DAW interface, etc..
I do plan on getting a T61 WS 15'' wsxga+ when the next coupon comes out but i'll wait forever to get it so until then, the search is on for a 14'' T42-T60.
I'd rather have a 3 year old IBM than a new Dell (or HP)...

SXGA+ is not widescreen.CRSO wrote:What is real important to me is an sxga+ screen.....I NEED the WS
Besides getting a WSXGA+ T61, another solution that would work for you is a 14.1" UXGA T42. It's lighter than a 15.4" WSXGA+ T61, and UXGA has 8.8% more pixels than WSXGA+.

I know, I meant sxga+ on a 14'' T42-T60 4:3.. Sorry...
Well, after searching high and low, i'm gonna get the following which I know is a great deal for 700.00.

2.0Ghz Core Duo
1.50 GB RAM

I did it! Just got back. Apparently he gets crazy discounts from Lenove via his company. He said I was the one he "chose" to sell it to, lol. This guy had like 4 thinkpads including an X61 tablet (insane).
I got a 2623-D7U with warranty until 12-09, 9 cell battery, 1.5 GB RAM, Advanced Mini-Dock and two travel chargers for 700.00!!!

And you should be...now, get the guy to sell the aforementioned T43 for $250, and the profit shall be split between pianowizard and myself, since we were the ones who advised you not to buy it for $800...and on rare occasions that I do drink, I take a single malt whiskey...start chilling the glasses, I don't live that far away...
All jokes aside, a great buy. Congrats.

I was very very hesitant on that T43. I was looking at a shabby (somewhat) T42 for 500-550 and a loaded T43 for maybe 750 made me think and ask, that's all...
Now I'm part of the T60 club. Time to get rid of ALL my T4x stuff because none of it is backwards comaptible. Thanks Lenovo!

It was just persistant searching. I mean, I would check craigslist every 30 minutes from my Treo...wearetheborg wrote:That is one crazy deal !
How do you find these people CRSO ?
Does he have more thinkpads up for sale ?
I don't know where this one came from though, it just popped up and I thought it was a beat up T60. Not even close... This thing is almost brand new. Not a scratch, schmear or smudge. There is slight shinyness on a few keys (which seem SO much nicer than my T43 keys) but that is literally it.
