I have a T42p with the Intel 2200bg wireless. It was working fine until I tried to upgrade to Access Connections version 4.23.
I have uninstalled Access Connections and Intel ProSet/Wireless through the add/remove programs in the control panel and also uninstalled the 2200bg drivers through the device manager. At this stage 2200bg wireless card is no longer visible in the device manager. I then followed up and tried to re-install the July 26, 2007 version 11.01.0 of Intel PRO/Wireless 2200bg, 2915abg, 3945bg, 3945abg, 4965ag, 4965agn Mini PCI adapter software from the Lenovo web site. I took the custom install option and selected to install both the Wireless Lan Adapter driver and Intel ProSet/Wireless . The Wireless Lan Adapter driver seemed to install OK but in the middle of the ProSet/Wireless install I got the message that the program was cancelling and removing the installed components.
I would be glad to get my wireless working again either with or without Access Connections. I suspect that when I tried to uninstall the previous software that not everything was being completely uninstalled and as a result I couldn't successfully reinstall.
Does anybody know the steps that I need to go through to get back into a useable state other than reinstalling the original IBM CD image.
TIA
Reinstalling Wireless Drivers for Intel 2200bg
You should always uninstall Access Connections and reboot before upgrading your wireless driver.
If you run iProInst.exe from C:\Drivers\Win\WLANINT2\XP\Apps\x32\, that gives you the option to Modify, Install, or Repair the Intel software. If this is not working for you, then you probably need to unistall any Intel wireless software and either run a registry cleaner program, or try what antera309 posted in the following thread.

Thank you for the suggestions. I ran the procedure as per antera309.
I got as far as the install of the Intel ProSet Wireless. Again I got the same results as before: The wireless lan adapter gets installed and in the middle of the Intel Proset/Wireless install I get the message "Program Cancellation in Progress - Removing Components". At the end the Intel Proset/Wireless install program shows:
Wireless Lan Adapter Driver: State:Not Present Status:Good
Intel ProSet/Wireless: State:Not Present Status:Error
There really should be a way to diagnose the cause of this error, but I couldn't find anything on Intel's Web site.
Regarding your other suggestion of using a good registry cleaner, is there one that you can recommend?
TIA

I don't have any particular registry cleaners to recommend. I use Norton System Works because I already paid for it. Others use Registry First Aid and CC Cleaner.
Before using a registry cleaner, why don't you boot up into Windows SAFE MODE and use Windows System Restore to restore your setup to an earlier date when you did not have this problem? System Restore can be accessed from Help and Support off of the Start Menu.

I don't have any System Restore snapshots that I can use.
I suspect that you're right that it is a System Registry issue. It's really unfortunate that Intel's ProSet Wireless software can figure out that it should cancel an installation but doesn't provide any useful information regarding the reason.
Any additional suggestions will be much appreciated.
