Change LCD on 15.4" T60

#1 Post by Harryc » Tue Aug 28, 2007 4:53 am

Is it possible to change the LCD on a 15.4" T60 to anything else beside WSXGA+? What are the possibilities?

you might be able to install a WUXGA or WXGA panel.   you'll most likely need a new LCD cable and inverter to match.   check the HMM for your thinkpad and go from there.   i haven't seen this done yet on a 15.4" T6x so you're on your own for now.   just find a retailer who has a good money-back guarantee.

btw, what resolution panel do you have in mind?

I was thinking about any non-wide format, but I don't suppose that's possible. The parts guide mentions wxga and wsxga+, that's it.

Just get the inverter, cable and screen designed for the 14.1" 4:3 T60. I bet that would work, though you'd need to figure out how to fill the gaps (5.7 square inches on each side).

What about a 15in SXGA+ LCD?

15.0" = 12 x 9 inches
15.4" = 13.1 x 8.2 inches

The 15.0" screen would be too tall.
