T2x problem reloaded

#1 Post by synchromesh » Tue Aug 28, 2007 10:45 am

Ok, here is another problem I have with a different T22 I have.

Basically it all started when I removed the original 900MHz processor. I haven't tested it extensively before that but it seemed to work ok. After I removed it and upgraded to 1GHz strange stuff has been happening.

It boots up just fine, detects all of the attached hardware fine (CDROM, hdd, etc) and then when I start installing Windows or try to boot from Linux live CD at some point the screen goes blank. The CDROM drive LED lights up once in a while but with same intervals and in same pattern. I can hear the hdd being accessed, also in a particular pattern. And that's it. It doesn't respond to anything, sometimes not even the power button to turn it off.

It feels almost like a thermal problem. I tried various CPUs (couple of 700s, couple of 1GHz, and the original 900MHz). Same difference. Tried 2 different heatsinks, the original T22 and one from T21. Same thing. Of course I applied gobs of AC5 on all processors and made sure the ZIF screw is in proper position, so that's not it. Tried all of the connections, etc.

Any other suggestions?

Download a copy of PC Doctor for the T2x system from here:

Diskette version or CD version (.ISO image)

and run the diagnostics mentioned in this post:
