701CS -- can i add 32 MB RAM?
701CS -- can i add 32 MB RAM?
I was told that I can add 32 MB RAM which, when added to the 8 MB on board, will give me 40 MB RAM, the max amount possible. However, when I looked at the Hardware Maintenance Manual, it seems to indicate that the most I can add is 16 MB for a total of 24 MB. Is that because they didn't have a 32 MB module at the time?

Yep, in fact 64MB is possible if you can find the chip, which is very rare. I snagged one on eBay from Canada years ago (same place that sold the 133Mhz system boards). It disables your onboard RAM, leaving you with the 64MB on the chip.tom lightbody wrote:yes, 8mb+32mb=40 is possible: see
