dvd wont read cd

#1 Post by cspgsl » Wed Aug 29, 2007 6:41 pm

I have a DVD RW in my notebook that will not read an authentic MS Office 2003 CD. All other computers can read it but this player won't.
Anyone else have this problem. What might I look to do?
Thanks

Sir, you did not mention which notebook you're using?

You can look into this thread for some info.

Sorry. I took it for granted being in the 3000 Series area of the site.
It is a 3000 N100 ... 0768-A53

As for you your link, it does not really hit the nail on the head as the user can read CD's no problem. I have gleened a couple of things to try however, mine does read DVD's (have not tried to burn as yet) but won't recognize any CD, regardless of make.

Thanks

Sir, I see.

Please thoroughly look into this document. Usually these drives need a firmware update or some physical cleaning.

However, if things don't work out then I believe it could be a case of bad drive for which I suggest on availing your warranty if it's still left.

I went through most of the Lenovo page last night. I shall complete the balance today. I am thinking that it might be the drive and I have a couple of months left on the warranty so I am not desparate at this point
Thanks,
