Brightest display for use in a car....?

I am looking to get an X61 or X61S model to go in my vehicle and would like to pick the model that is the lightest and has the brightest display. Any help is appreciated....

X61s with Ultralight.

Thanks for reply....Is it actually usable in a vehicle? I tried my T60P that is the 15.4" and it is really bad.

Sir, X61s with Ultralight is very bright, precisely 180 nits of brightness Vs. 150 nits of the standard X61/s screen.

X61s is not as bright as the T60p 15", which is 200 nits.

Brightness is not the whole story however. You might want to consider an X61 Tablet with SXGA+ (1400x1050), 190 nits, 500:1 contrast (vs 300:1 for the X61s), 170° viewing, direct bonding panel (SuperView) for improved outdoor viewability.

X61s w/ ultralight is the brightest non-tablet and it would definitely be unsuitable for vehicle use IMO.

I had a 500-nit display in my M3 and even that was poor visibility in direct sunlight. For direct sunlight viewing only transflective displays offer very good visibility. There is only one notebook that I know of with a transflective display but the name of the niche brand escapes me atm...

Sir, I am certainly aware of it and that's the mere reason I asked the other gentleman in what terms he felt T60p was lacking.

I think PortableOne is selling some re-branded Asus barebones with the transflective displays like the SZ37.

I have a T60p 8743 with 15.4" widescreen. What is the brightness on that unit? I tried an HP 17" widescreen in the car in it apeeared much brighter. My t60p looks dim even in my house. I think I'm going to ebay it and get a 15" UXGA model. I have one that is several years old and love it.

So it seem mostpeople don't thing the x61s is the best for this application. Do you guys have a recomendation for a small car only unit?
