Trackpoint Scrolling... compatibility

Does anyone know how to get this feature to work 100% of the time?

You know what I mean right? That middle button that lets you move the trackpoint around to scroll? it's really handy, and a wonderful idea, when it works. But there are some apps out there that don't seem to recognize it, like iTunes for example.

Is there a way to fix this? Or it is a fault on the software developer's part?

Is there any way to fool windows into thinking it's just a plain old scroll wheel on a mouse? cause that always works, 100% of the time.
