T30 i press pwr,fan comes on but no display or start up

#1 Post by DanDLT » Thu Aug 30, 2007 8:30 pm

so a few days ago i was trying my fn+f7 for the dual screen or video out, it seemed to work although i didnt have the cable for it, but they arrived today a 7 pin sv to 6 pin svideo,. do i have it ready to test fn f7

but i think it started doing this since then,
i go to power up but the fan comes on and no picture

i dont think its the screen, the computer was just not starting up

so i thought messin with fnf7 messed it up, i went back in and restarted it in factory mode...

so i press and hold power button, it turns off,
then i try again, press power and starts up fine no problem..

so its only doing it sometimes, it just did it now as im writing this.

other thing i wanna mention is the power button on this laptop has always been kinda , it kinda gets stuck sometimes.
so when i go to start up , you have to kinda flick it to power up right... ive always had to be careful when i press power button so
it dont get stuck in on position..

ive looked into another power button, but can only find a whole keyboard set. cheap if this is the problem

so has anyone had this problem?
i hope its not like its dying, i just got new hard drive and its been running great for me..
should i get a new keyboard?
or how can i do a system check or somthin,.?
any advice is really appreciated
dan

I believe this is the loose / de-soldered inductor problem, do a search in this sub-forum and plenty should come up.
