R50e Battery Level Suddenly Dives

#1 Post by ludwiggj » Fri Aug 31, 2007 3:13 am

I have a R50e, 1.7GHz, 512Mb, 60Gb XPH laptop, just over a year old. In the last month the battery has started to malfunction. The Battery Maximizer level will show a normal level in the toolbar (75% for example), but then the laptop will then pop up a warning that the battery is dangerously low. When I OK the window it disappears and the battery level suddenly drops to 4%. Once I plug in the AC lead the battery then recharges OK. This has happened several times.

I've checked the recharge settings which look normal. Full charge capacity is 46.55 Wh, design capacity 47.52 Wh, cycle count 122. The battery health is showing as green.

I guess the next stage is to recondition the battery, but wondered if anyone had any relevant advice or experiences.

Thanks,

Graeme.

Sir, although I doubt it but just to be certain, please make sure whether your battery was not part of the Battery Recall.

Secondly, make sure your system is upto date with the latest version of BIOS, Thinkvantage Power manager and other critical updates. You can install them via Thinkvantage System Update or manually.

I hope this info. helps you somehow.
