T60. Is There a Need for Recovery CD's or Preesktop Restore?

#1 Post by CRSO » Fri Aug 31, 2007 5:56 pm

I have a T60 I got used without any OS, CD's, or the recovery partition.

Is there really a ''need'' for that stuff? I just bought a copy of XP and installed it and loaded frivers from the Lenovo website. that should cover everything, no?

Also, is it possible to obtain the original CD/s (or DVD/s) that came with machine from Lenovo? The Windows Product Key is on the bottom. If so, I bpught XP for nothing..
I'd rather have a 3 year old IBM than a new Dell (or HP)...

It depends on your preference. Some folks like having the recovery partition present while others would rather have the extra disk space. If you are happy clean installing XP and installing the drivers from the Lenovo site, that's great.

You should be able to get the recovery discs for your T60 by calling Lenovo. Depending on the technician who answers your call, you may have to pay around $50 for them.
