RoboCopy questions-which switches?

#1 Post by mgo » Sat Sep 01, 2007 9:35 am

As a new RoboCopy user, I am wondering which command would be better (that is, more reliable)

1: robocopy "E:\My_Documents" "T:\Documents_backup_folder" /B /s /e /mir
pause

-or-

2: robocopy "E:\My_Documents" "T:\Documents_backup_folder" /mir
pause

My number one wish is to make sure that the files really are copied to the backup. I suspect that has not always happened. Failure to copy (but Windows Explorer seems to -say- the files were copied has happened with RoboCopy and with SyncBack SE paid version. I'm not sure why the copies did not happen...but I want to just make sure there are enough arguments in RoboCopy to -force- the copy, no matter what.

The backups are being made to various USB drives. which are carefully disconnected with Fn+9. This does not always release the drive, as users are well aware, but that mostly works. Regardless, I always make sure the USB drive has spun down before pulling the plug.

-Hope this question makes some sense...hehe

*ATTN Moderator*: Can I ask this question in other forums without breaking cross posting rules of some sort?
