Are dead/stuck pixels typical for Flexview displays ?

#1 Post by Puppy » Sat Oct 30, 2004 5:07 am

I bought R51 with SXGA+ Flexview display. I checked for dead pixels carefully and didn't find any pixel the day I bought it. Next day when I was installing some software I suddenly noticed something strange in the Start menu (what hasn't been there before) - yes you can guess it  A red stuck pixel on white backgroud in the top-right corner of the Windows Start menu. This is really annoying because it has appeared after 24 hours but since I haven't ordered directly from IBM I can't use the 30-day return policy.

I have searched this forum and found complaints about Flexview displays and dead pixels, even in case of top models like T42. Isn't IBM going to rethink their policy for this type of displays ?

ibm will replace the LCD's -- but u can't give the dead pixels as a reason..

they will replace for other problems, such as intermittent blackout problems, etc..

who knows why the fit is a bit "roomy"..
i'm sure there is a reason..
the question should be "does it matter?"..
if the case top and bottom or the display parts do not fit together then that is a problem..
