Security Setup Wizard

I just downgraded from Vista to XP using the R&R disks Lenovo provided. Everything seemed to install properly except I am running into an issue with the "Security Setup Wizard" displaying - even after I go through the wizard and setup everything. I've gone through the wizard 5 times already.

1. Select the "Convenient logon method". Click Next.
2. Type in my Windows password and check the option to "Use the Windows password to protect access to the Resource and Recovery workspace". Click Next.
3. Select three questions and supply three answers. Click Next.
4. Since I already enrolled my finger prints, I did not check the "Launch fingerprint enrollment software after completing this task" option. Click Next.
5. I unchecked the "Create a Private Disk volume for each user, with the size selected below" option. Click Next.
6. Review the summary which looks correct.
Embedded Security Chip: Activated
Logon Method: Windows Password
Password recovery: Required for all users
Number of recovery questions: 3
Private Disk: Disabled
Password Manager: Enabled
Rescue and Recovery workspace access: Protected by Windows password.
Click Apply

7. On the Finished screen, the Setting authentication method is checked (green) but the Creating system keys is X'd (red).

Now whenever I reboot the machine, the Security Setup Wizard displays again and I need to go through the wizard again.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue? Thanks.

Your problem is that you never cleared the security chip before installing XP. The security chip can only be 'owned' by one OS on your computer. What you are going to need to do is take ownership of the security chip. Under XP this is not simple. The security chip cannot be owned by both Vista and XP as you set it up with Vista it is owned by Vista.

So what you need to do, is first uninstall CSS under XP, and then reboot. (once the CSS program is uninstalled, the BIOS options are changed) and there should be an option in the BIOS to clear the security chip (note this is different than clearing the fingerprint data and is only available with CSS uninstalled)
