Buying Entire LCD Assembly vs Loose LCD??

I want to upgrade my XGA T42 to SXGA+. On Ebay I see people some people selling the entire LCD assembly and others just selling the loose LCD panel such as this guy:

Can I buy just the LCD panel and swap it into my existing assembly? Are there any other parts I will need for the upgrade? Thanks for the help.

You need more than the panel. You need a different cable, which is part of the assembly. I think if your screen is 15", you also need a different inverter. (also part of the assembly)
