Where to get replacement key caps for Lenovo 3000 N100?

#1 Post by mattklionsky » Mon Sep 03, 2007 12:17 pm

I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 notebook, model 0768-04U. A kaycap has come off and can't be properly reinstalled because one of the tiny plastic tabs on the underside of the keycap is broken. (I do know how to properly install an intact keycap.) I've been searching the Lenovo website and the rest of the web looking for a source for a replacement keycap, but can't find anything other than complete keyboards.

My keyboard is a Chicony, with a mfg part number 39T7385 and a Lenovo part number/FRU 39T7417. The bad key is the left arrow (for curser control).

Does anyone know a vendor for such parts? Does anyone have a dead keyboard they haven't tossed, from which they could extract the keycap and send it to me?

Lenovo does not sell keyboard keys. You will have to buy the keyboard. Nevertheless if your machine is still under warranty then IBM will send you a replacement. So please call IBM at 1-800-426-7378 (24/7)!
