Is it a genuine Travel Star Hard Drive?

#1 Post by hutty2000 » Tue Sep 04, 2007 2:17 am

Hi, I purchased a 100GB 7200 rpm IBM/Hitachi TravelStar Hard Drive on ebay. But I recently noticed that the Hard Dive I receive is not the same as the picture in the auction. The picture in the auction on ebay clearly showed "Travelstar" on the second line under Hitachi Logo.

However, the Hard Drive I received showed "www.hitachi.com" rather than "Travelstar".

Could anyone tell me whether I received the same product as described?
X40 P1.5G, 1GB, 40GB 1.8 HDD + 100GB 7200 rpm HDD in the Dock, DVD Burner. (Looking forward to changing the 1.8 HDD to a SSD when price is acceptable)

1) The BIOS should indicate the HDD's model number. Is it what it's supposed to be?

2) Go to Hitachi's warranty site. I think there is a page where you can enter the drive's serial number to check how much warranty remains. See if your drive is recognized and the right amount of warranty is shown.
