No Power!! - Gone i tell ya!

#1 Post by SHoTTa35 » Tue Sep 04, 2007 6:23 pm

Aww man, that sux... stupid thing. I wrote a whole thread and it just timed out or whatever.

Anyways, i'm now down to 70% (2hrs 42mins) on this system... guess this post better go thru!

Anyways, So ya, come home and was changing and bam power is gone. No wifi, no internet, or so i thought! I remmebered my AT&T phone has Bluetooth PAN so i fired that up and thanks to Ed (underclocker) i'm connected to the net now. (Thank you ED!!)

Nope, not gone crazy yet! I still have another battery stored at 42% so that'll give me an extra 1hr 30mins too :)

This SSD i have in the laptop too comes in handy because the fan isn't even on my laptop. Totally silent. I removed the optical drive also and put in a travel bezel (15mins more power without it)

So here's to the one candle and bottle of wine i found, cheers!

Here's a backup plan for you, a set up like mine...
I have a Fortress 1420 UPS with 2 32AH (Garden tractor style) batteries morphed into service via slightly modified jumper cables.
This runs the network and desktop computer(s).
I also have 2 of the same batteries and a home made 16V 5 amp regulator that conveniently feeds into my T21. I don't know how long the T21 would stay on running from those batteries, but I do know that I've run it for several hours and only dropped about a tenth of a volt.

Back in 2003 when the northeast power grid crashed, I never lost power to my network, and the DSL service remained as well.
