Fingerprint Reader 5.6 Software- Vista problems...

#1 Post by hypertrophy » Tue Sep 04, 2007 10:37 pm

When awaking from sleep mode in Vista (x64), the fingerprint icon screen states "Please connect the fingerprint reader," and it takes a horrible amount of time to load-somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-25 seconds before i am able to swipe my finger. Not only that, but it also delays the use of a password logon.

When exploring Ad/Remove Programs, the software has a button to "Repair." I've tried repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling the software a number of times with no avail. I believe the software itself might be corrupt. It has gotten to the point of being such a hassle that i've completely removed the software from the laptop.

Anyone else have a similar experience? Anyone "in the know" know when a new driver might become available? I've contacted Lenovo in the past about this issue and they do not have a solution.

Thanks for replying GomJabbar. I've already tried installing/uninstalling/reinstalling both the driver itself and the registry patch before. That does not solve my problem.

Edit: I wanted to note that i do not have the same problem as Tom in the other thread. My device manager shows that everything is normal. Only when the notebook awakes from sleep mode does the "Please connect the fingerprint reader" message shows up on the logon screen.

have you tried version 5.6.0.3307 found at the bottom of this page?   scroll down and look for a link to tfs56-32.exe.

I just tried it right now. It's still having the same problems resuming from sleep mode. The icon on the logon screen states "Please connect the fingerprint reader."

did you try this:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-68055

That's also a registry patch but it's not the registry files that you click to enable and disable.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67245

that link does that. The one above seem to work nicely as it comes back much faster. Remember it is a USB device so once the system wakes up it will send a "resume" command to all devices on the USB and then enable them again. If some don't wake up then i guess the next thing to do is to disable allowing the system to put the device to sleep (in the device manager - properties - power management)

[EDIT] didn't notice you were using x64. See if there's a version of the ones above for x64.
