Why not get a 15.4" WUXGA laptop that weighs 1 to 1.5 lbs less?
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

I suspect the 17" WUXGA screens are better than the 15.4" ones.
Chaz said it was the best screen he had ever seen, so I assume its at least as good as a dell 17" WUXGA, and those screens are just GORGEOUS.
The Flexview UXGA screens would probably be better, but they've been discontinued.
And finally, 1.5 lbs vs 17" tradeoff might be fair for many people.

The weight of this laptop is actually quite close to the R50P.

The price unfortunately is a bit too much. I hope it drops below $1800. HP actually had some decent prices on extended warranties ($230 for 5 years).

Would any of you guys be interested in a 17" thinkpad at about 7.5 lbs ?
