Advanced Dock - Maximum supported dimensions of PCI-E card ?

#1 Post by Troels » Wed Sep 05, 2007 2:35 pm

Hello,
I'll be recieving an Advanced Dock to go with my T60p in the near future. Unlike many, i won't install a video card in the dock PCI-E slot, but a PCI-E TV tuner card which is a dual hybrid DVB-T/Analog.

Anyways, I have been thinking of getting this one:
http://www.digitalnow.com.au/product_pa ... ualS2.html
Dimensions approx 170mm length, 70 mm height.

Or just this one maybe:
http://www.fusionhdtv.co.kr/ENG/product ... press.aspx
But i don't know the dimensions although it looks to be shorter.

Will the 170x70 PCI-E card fit in the Advanced Dock?

I'm still not quite sure i get it... sorry
The FireGL V5200 card mentioned in that thread had a larger interface than these PCI-e 1x TV cards here, so i'm not really sure. Would it even fit interface-wise? I'm assuming yes.

What i wanted to know was not the length of the PCI-e connector, only how short the PCB length must be in order to fit into the dock.

Whether the PCI-Express interface is x1 or x16 doesn't matter. Either will fit just fine. I posted the link to that thread to you can see a picture of a card (The ATI V5200) that barely fits in the dock, so that you can compare sizes.

The Fusion card will definitely fit. I think the DigitalNow card will fit, but I can't be certain without better pictures.
