Fastest compatible dvd-rw drive with blue eject button?
Fastest compatible dvd-rw drive with blue eject button?
I know there are really fast dvd-rw drives that are compatible with the T43's but from what I gather most if not all has the new gray eject button and I am very silly about keeping my T43 as original cosmetically as possible
Anyone know what the fastest dvd-rw drive with a blue eject button is?
IBM Thinkpad T43 (2669-84G): 1.86GHz / 1GB RAM / X300 / 1400x1050 15" Flexview / 40GB HD

This is the original multiburner that shipped with T43's. It's not the fastest drive around anymore by any means. You'd be much better off trying to figure out how to get a blue button on a newer model multiburner.

Thanks harry! Anyone got a clue on how to replace the eject button on the face plate? :S
EDIT: Found a link on how to replace the face plate although not specific on how to replace the actual eject button.

... different multiburners for T42's (having a curved bezel!) are discussed in the thread Swapping T60 Multiburner w/ T42 DVD/CDRW. If you search for 40Y8622 and check this image (choose the "Bild vergößern" to enlarge the photo), you will see that the P/N 40Y8622 indeed has a blue eject button.
Best regards,
Johan

Yikes, i found 1 of those on eBay.com and i knew it would be expensive but isn't that a tad much? Was the DVDRW options even that much? Now compared when buying a new system you can get it for $40 more or something. Crazy i tell ya.

I bought a Panasonic UF-842 DVD+/- DL RW in Ultrabay slim case on e-bay from seller: "bogielives". He offers several models of genuine Lenovo burners for reasonable prices. It does have the blue button, however, this model was not offered on T4x series, so it has the straight front panel, (T6x style) rather than the curved.
It works fine in a T43 BTW.
Note that "reasonable" price for a genuine Lenovo part is quite a bit more than $40, if you want a fast one.

those aren't available in the 9.5mm size as far as i know, maybe the 12.5mm size. We always get the slow speeds and the other stuff last! Guess that what we get for wanting a super slim laptop.
Hmm, that Dell XPS 1330 that came out, i wonder what that has?
(Checked, just regular Dual-Layer)
