XGA on a T42P born with SXGA

#1 Post by olef » Wed Sep 05, 2007 4:16 pm

Is it possible to mount a XGA-TFT (1024*768) on a T42P (2373-GXG) which is born with a SXGA (1400*1050) , and still get a clear and bright picture ?

Do a have to install the inverter for the XGA TFT instead of the original inverter ?

i don't think you need anything when downgrading but i could be wrong. Normally when upgrading you would have to get a different LCD ribbon since that's 2 channels for SXGA+ and 1 for XGA. I'm not sure tho if you go from SXGA to XGA if you need to change that.

The inverter i dont think was every a requirement.

And yes, picture will be clear as day once you get it working, it just wont be as sharp as the SXGA+ screen.

Eyes aren't that good? That's why the move to XGA? I'd just change the DPI settings because everything is just huge on XGA.

You need to change the cable

The cable you're using has part # 91P6787. You need to get 91P6786 for XGA. If you keep using the SXGA+ cable, you'll probably only see a small portion (53.5% to be exact) of the Windows desktop area on the XGA screen.

You don't need to change the inverter.
