Musicreader test on lenovo Tablet PC.

#1 Post by ryengineer » Thu Sep 06, 2007 3:56 am

MusicReader is software that in combination with a Tablet PC should offer the solution for the problems musicians have with (paper) sheet music. These are problems of individual musicians as well as problems in ensembles and orchestras. The turning of pages is for example easier and the conductor can annotate the parts of the musicians remotely. MusicReader also anticipates on the developments of digital sheet music, more and more sheet music becomes available in digital form.
It was tested on lenovo tablet PC's, one can visit this website to see it in action. By the way not a bad music piece.

MusicReader

Hi, Are you familiar with this? It's a 12" touch screen tablet with Linux-based software to do the same thing. It also can use a foot pedal for forward and back page turns. I've been using one for about a year. The only problem is it is a one-trick pony; you can't load other software on the pad (well, I suppose some genius around here could figure out a way!). The software is available for download and I wondered if it would work on any tablet PC with a touch screen. I have the software on my notebook but it's of course in portrait mode, not landscape and isn't a touch screen. Do you know much about the MusicReader? I read that it uses not only tablet PCs but also a touch screen. Are these used together, a la networked? I'm interested in finding out more. Thanks very much for posting!

Brian, Musicreader is still in beta stages of development, but it does support both touchscreen and Tablet PC's. As far as loading the software on the tablet PC you mentioned is concerned, if it's a constraint from the manufacturer then you'll have to contact them to seek help or find such souls online somewhere who have successfully done so.

You can contact MusicReader regarding any questions you may have here:

You can even sign up for a newsletter from MusicReader here, they send invitations to users to test beta versions.
