Z61t - Volume up button won't turn volume up in VISTA

Hi guys,

I recently found this problem with my Z61t's Volume Up button. I was watching a dvd one night and it was playing too loud so I kinda pushed the volume down button and actually turned the volume all the way down. The problem is when I tried to increase the volume nothing would happen. The MUTE button can be pressed and I would get a signal in my screen that it is muted and then when I press the volume down button it would remove the mute but then the volume up button just wouldn't work and I dont have any audio anymore.

The same exact thing happened to a friend of mine's Thinkpad N100 and I fixed that problem for her by installing XP over her Vista.. Can anybody here help me with this please. I know XP could fix this but I just paid so much getting Vista Vista Ultimate and I don't wanna go back to Windows XP..
