Thinkpad 700 - slot at left hand side?

#1 Post by g8tzl » Thu Sep 06, 2007 8:37 am

I recently acquired an "original" Thinkpad 700 at a junk sale for $1.50.

The keyboard is in perfect condition and the outer case is OK.

It powers up OK and is running Windows 3.1.

When I purchased the TP700, the "accessory" slot at the far left hand side was open with the cover missing - although I found the cover in the bottom of a box together with the original reference manual and some red Trackpoint covers and reference/diagnostic floppies.

I've download the Hardware Maintenance Manual but I cannot figure out what the accessory slot is used for? I was originally thinking that the hard drive had been removed - but thankfully it is still installed.

Does anybody know what is meant to slot into the top left hand side of the TP700?? Maybe its a modem or something??

Thanks

great, lucky duck.

> slot

although my 700 isn't here for inspection, if memory serves
modem is correct. A slot connector exists in the machine,
3 cm long, w/ contacts top and bottom.
the way up and the way down are the same (heraclitus)

Rear left corner? My 700c has a modem, held in by a screw. 47mm by 19mm.
