t61p build quality

#1 Post by t61puser » Sat Sep 08, 2007 12:38 am

i had post couple threads regarding the build quality of my t61p. the most recent one is the loose screen bezel on the right side. so, i did the depot, got my machine back... and they did not fix my screen bezel. any advice? any of you having similar problem?

Oh wow! I have the exact same problem with my T61 as well and on the same side too! Also the left speaker sounds kinda distorted when playing music or a video but if I press the speaker grill, the distortion stops. I am a bit disappointed with the T61 as far as build quality is concerned.

To be honest I feel much more confident that my almost 2 year old R51 will last far longer than this T61. I have decided to return it and maybe exchange it for another one but I don't know if that will solve anything since I have been reading a lot about the build issues.
IBM Thinkpad R51 with Pentium M 1.7, 1.25 GB RAM, 15" SXGA+ FlexView, 32MB ATI, 80GB 7K100 HDD, 1394 firewire, Cost? Priceless.

Sir, you reported back earlier that lenovo offered you an exchange?

You have an option to take it in person to any IBM authorized Service Center in your local area as well.

yea..it's really difficult to accept these flaws especially when you received them new.. i just learned to live with it as i use it more =) since overall quality is not bad, but minor things can bother you too

If your screen bezel were loose then your screen would've been moving. Here is a close-up picture of T61p 15.4'' , the gap is on all the machines of this particular model I believe and it won't go away.
