Powerplay in Windows Vista

#1 Post by ulrich.von.lich » Sat Sep 08, 2007 2:46 pm

Does anyone know how to enable Powerplay in Windows Vista? I could only find this:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... 3_WH06.ppt

It seems I'll have to modify the registry.. Is there any other way to underlock the X300 so I might have a chance to reduce the fan noise?

Btw is it normal the fan is always on even when the laptop is idle? My friend's Macbook Pro sounds like a blender when gaming but surprisingly quiet when doing other stuff

Any clue would be appreciated

Powerplay can be enabled and configured from the ATI Catalyst Control Center or the Power Options in control panel under advanced settings when creating or modifying a power plan.

Is there anything else that can do that? I like the idea to underclock the GPU when i'm not using it (only for AERO), that would give me even more battery time, an extra 30mins would be nice!
