ThinkVantage Access Connections - profile problems

#1 Post by LasseFJ » Sun Sep 09, 2007 4:21 am

Hi everyone!

I use my Z61m in 2 places. At home and at school.

At school I've got a profile that'll connect automatically just fine.

At home I have both a wireless and cable for connection.

The wireless connects automatically.

I want the wireless connection to stop when I plug in the cable LAN - and I just can't get it to work.

The reason that I want wireless to switch off is because then I'll be sure that the computer will use the 100mbit network instead of the 54mbit - if you know how to use both at the same time that would be fine - but I need to use a static IP!

It seems to me that the program requires me to have different IP's on WLAN and cable-LAN

You can use the switch to disable the wireless radio of all the wireless devices on your computer.

You need to read the help file....
Access Connection FAQ in Help file wrote:I cannot configure the fixed IP address.

If you select Best Available Network for the network connection type, you cannot configure the fixed IP address. Select Wired LAN or Wireless LAN only.

Why is the Ethernet location profile not displayed in the automatic location switching list?

Ethernet location profiles which are configured with fixed IP addresses are excluded from the automatic switching list.
Cheers,

Bill
