Press the blue ThinkVantage button when the message "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button " is displayed to enter the ThinkVantage Productivity Center, then select Start setup utility to open the BIOS Setup Utility.

Interested souls can benefit from this document.

This document might imply that one needs to press the "F1" key for certain models but the "Access IBM" or "ThinkVantage" button for others. That's actually not true. For example, I can get into BIOS by pressing "F1" on my T42 and X41 tablet.

charles mcdaniel, the "F1" key on your keyboard might be broken. That's easy to check within Windows, e.g. start Internet Explorer and see if a help window pops up when you press it.

True, I agree.

That is just a way IBM described it for users to do things. One can enter into Rescue and Recovery predesktop console via F11 as well instead of pressing Blue Thinkvantage Button. These are alternative methods.

The Thinkpad (black), Access IBM and Thinkvantage blue buttons are very critical part of Thinkpad/ThinkCentre machines, that is the mere reason of them failing/breaking seldom as compared to other keys of the keyboard.
