T61 WinXP Keyboard \ trackpoint problem...

#1 Post by frenchd » Mon Sep 10, 2007 5:19 am

Hi all.
I've built a WindowsXP image for a T61 (type 7665) but have a strange problem which I've seen on all the machines we've bought so far. On booting up, it seems half the time once windows has loaded you cannot move the mouse via trackpoint or touchpad. They keyboard still works, but mouse not. You have to power down and reboot. Once or twice I've seen the keyboard doesnt work either - then the only solution is the power button...

Anyone seen this, or have any suggestions?

Many Thanks

I had the same problem after reinstalling my t60. i lately deinstalled all the ultranav driver/software and ever since i don't have this problem any more. so i guess i messed something up when installing these software/drivers.

maybe you want to give it a try.

cheers

Sometimes-doesn't-work trackpoint

Had the same problem for about a month, didn't worry about it as I always intended to do a reinstall tomorrow (and tomorrow never comes of course).

Strangely enough, a couple of weeks ago it's no longer become a problem, it always works - but now I get 'freeze' crashes every now and then. This co-incided with installing an Optus Wireless internet card... oh the wonders!

But it's definately the program you're talking about above - if you're not connected to the net, the program will keep trying for about 30 seconds which is why a T60/1 with this problem will sit while loading XP for a while - only sometimes - while that program waits to time out it's internet attempt.

I'd love to live without the program but I need it to set the 'super sensitive' settings I like with the trackpoint.

I've personally put the problem down to a bunch of dodgy drivers I installed while experimenting when installing XP (I do a clean XP install). But if anyone has any clues or understanding what the problem specifically is, I'd love to know.
