Touchpad & Trackball block my computer

#1 Post by cidmi.dovic » Tue Sep 11, 2007 2:46 am

Hi everybody, I'm new in the forum and I hope you could help me.

I have a problem with my Thinkpad T41 model 2373 :

When I usethe T41 with an USB mouse all is fine, I can work hours with the computer with no problem. All work fine.

My problem comes when I can't use the usb mouse and I make use of the touchpad or the trackball. Randomly (one minute, one hour...) the computer gets completely blocked ('hanged'), the screen is frozen showing the last screen in what I was working, I can't use the keyboard, either touchpad or trackball. The only way to make the computer work again is swicht it off and on again...
It ALWAYS and ONLY happens when I use touchpad or trackball!

It seems a hardware fail because I'm a linux user and I have the same problem under linux that using Windows.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I think you should uninstall all your mouse drivers, then install the latest UltraNav driver.

Have you tried calling thinkpad tech support - they will usually try to help answer your questions even if your thinkpad is out of warranty.
