What SD Card in Z60t?
What SD Card in Z60t?
I'd like to use the SD card slot for my sensitive data. What card should I use? I looked around and found many sizes, speeds and classes. No specs in manual.
Any recommendations?
Thanks

The 3-in-1 card reader in Z series support MM, SD, and xD-Picture Cards.
Any Compatible card from a good manufacturer will do it. SanDisk and Kingston are good brands.

Z61t and Z60m had 3-in-1 card readers.PPLepew wrote:The Z61t has a SD only plug. No 3 in 1 here.

Z60t supports only one format Secure Digital as you rightly mentioned.

I do not believe that all SD cards can be read. See links below.

I have an experience with Z60m with 3-in-1 card reader and to be honest different people around me used to bring their SD cards of various brands and I never had an issue accessing data on them ever.
I honestly believe simple SD flash cards will definitely work on Z60t. I cannot claim anything about SDHC cards working on Z series though.

I never closed this post.
I found out Z60t supports SD cards to 2Gb.
Larger SDhc (high capacity) are not supported.

Re: What SD Card in Z60t?
FYI, the SD card reader in my T61p doesn't (officially) support SDHC cards, either. However, when I install a hotfix from MS it works without problems (I'm using XP). Here are the links for Xp and Vista.

No MS hotfix will work with XP SP3, sorry, I've been fighting with Microsoft for the last 3 weeks over this. Vista and Vista SP1 work fine with SDHC, however if you try a machine with XP SP2 or SP3 I have not been able to get an 8G SD HC Micro chip to be read

FYI, my T61p with Win XP SP2 works fine with a 16GB SDHC card after installing the hot fix I linked in my previous post.

Re: What SD Card in Z60t?
I stand corrected, INDEED, the hotfix does work with SP2 for Windows XP .. HOWEVER>> If you try load it to SP3 it states (after you go to great lengths to download it) that "Your operating system is newer than the patch and will not update"basketb wrote:FYI, my T61p with Win XP SP2 works fine with a 16GB SDHC card after installing the hot fix I linked in my previous post.
So sorry I am still in contact with the goons at Microsoft and hopefully there'll be an updated patch for SP3 "Sometime in the future"

Re: What SD Card in Z60t?
Get rid of SP3, it's apparently no good.
Re: What SD Card in Z60t?
I run XP/SP3 with latest MS fixes.
Borrowed a 4Gb SDHC card and it read it just fine now.
I never thought I'd say this, but Thanks MS

Re: What SD Card in Z60t?
Well I talked too soon.
Exited by the borrowed SDHC test above, I bough my own 4Gb/C4 and it works just fine.
I stepped up to a 8Gb/C6 and I can read it fine, but can't write on it: Says it's read only. I switched the protection switch to no avail. Tried it on a new Vista gateway and it works fine there.
As far as I know a C6 card is just faster then a C4 and should work ok with same hardware slot.
Am I assuming wrong?
