T42 and Atheros BG Wireless Problems

Hi,

I bought a ThinkPad 11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter (Model: T60H786 FRU: 91P7416) from Ebay for my T42 but I'm having a few probs.

Managed to install it in the slot fine, and installed the drivers that came with it on a CD.

It connects fine to my wireless router, but shortly after pages start failing to load and the internet becomes unavailable. However, the wifi icon in the systray still says it's connected.

I've tried with DHCP and static IP same problem.

Are there any known problems with this? And maybe any updated drivers I should be using?

I built the laptop with a vanilla XP pro CD, as it didn't come with restore CDs.

How does the antenna setup look like? What version of Atheros Client Utility/driver did you install? You can get the version info from right click on the atheros icon->Open Atheros Client Utility->"Help" from the menu and choose "About Atheros Client Utility".

The antenna set-up looked fine. I connected the 2 wires no problem.

If I'd like to get the newest drivers for the IBM 11b/g Wireless Lan Mini PCI Adapter (Atheros AR5004G) (FRU 91P7416), where can I find them?

I've also tried with and without the ThinkAdvantage Access connections software. I don't have to use this do I? I have problems either way.

My router is a Netgear DG834G - are there any known problems with this router?

The driver below should work for sure.

Another option would be to install the following IBM Access Connections + wireless LAN driver pack:
IBM Access Connections (Back level version) for Windows 2000, XP (WARNING: See document for critical installation limitations) - ThinkPad General

That first link doesn't include the T42 as one of the supported machines. Do you know for a fact that it will work on a T42?

Oops, sorry. I had too many tabs open trying to find the correct driver and I posted the wrong one. This one below should work.

I see in the readme file for the above driver it says:
