ThinkVantage software for Vista...the all-in-one kind??

I just spent 8 hours backing up anything and everything, and successfully re-did my dual-boot system. When I did the System Restore with the disc set I created before wiping everything out, all the ThinkVantage software (System Migration Assistant, Access Connections, Active Protection System, Productivity Center, Rescue and Recovery, etc.) were re-loaded with XP, which is my T60p's native OS. However, I want to make Vista my main OS again, and I'd like to know where I can download all of the above for Vista.

Is there ONE download that encompasses them all, or do they all have to be downloaded separately?

Or should I skip them altogether? What do you guys do when you upgrade to a new OS?

They need to be downloaded and installed separately. Was your T60P part of the Vista upgrade program (not what it was called but it was a Lenovo program (using ModusLink) to upgrade some models to Vista from XP once it was released). ?

I'm not sure if the ModusLink website is still active for Vista upgrades, but a call to Lenovo wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the quick response. No, my 2623-D3U came pre-loaded with WinXP Pro. Do you recommend that I download all the apps, or will it slow my system down? I had downloaded Access Connections, and PC-Doctor 5 before, and it appeared to be slower. Now my Vista system is FAST as hell. I definitely want the Active Protection system, which I did have downloaded prior to my re-format, but now it says it's not available for a separate download!?

As for the link you posted, should I download the one with or without the drivers in your opinion?

As for the rest of the utilities, use what you need. My personal preference on Vista would be to not install any beside APS unless I had a fingerprint reader.

Thanks Harryc. I'm downloading APS right now. I have a fingerprint reader, but it doesn't work, and I don't think I'd use it anyway.

So let me ask you. How come you would only opt for the APS, and nothing else? Would you remove everything but the APS on the OS (XP in my case) that came shipped with the Thinkpad? If so, how come? Thanks again!

I run XP on an R52 and use only APS and Power Manager. Don't need anything else

Cool...Thanks again...I am downloading a few additional items, such as PC-Doctor 5, right now.

I've just learned that when I downloaded APS and also chose "ThinkVantage System Update 3", that that seems to be the best way to pick and choose from available updates, patches, software, etc., as it sends your exact model # to lenovo and then comes up with software available for your particular Thinkpad and OS. Awesome. You might want to try "System Update" and see if there is something you'd like to get.

P.S.: Final quick "n00b-like question"...lol. I noticed that we have very similar specs. What exactly is the advantage of IPS Flexview? I have a 15" SXGA+ LCD, too.

Also, I have a 100GB drive running only at 5,400rpm. I am thinking of upgrading to a 160GB 7,200rpm drive. I've seen so many people insisting on 7,200rpm drives. I haven't had the pleasure as of yet, so what am I in for? What's so great about them?
