Power Consumption for X31/2
what is your power consumption for your X31/2?
and how long does the battery last?

The lowest I have achieved so far is 8.5 watts in idle, with undervolting, brightness turned down, wireless on. Turning the brightness up adds about 2 watts, turning it off altogether gets rid of about 2-3 watts. I have yet to turn off some things like the infrared port, the modem, the parallel port, etc - that could bring it down to a an 8 watt idle. Aggresive settings for hard drive spin-down can also help. My battery life is a little under three hours on an old battery down to 65% of original capacity.

Undervolting the CPU can extend your battery life, but it also has the effect of lowering the CPU temperature - helpful to folks who find the X3 machines a bit too warm for comfort.
The X32 is a nice machine, but it has the same heat issues you will find present in any other X3 series machine. Also, given the fact that it is essentially an X31 with a higher frequency CPU, the X31 offers much more value for your money.

well, i would presume the X3 machine is not as hot as T43 right?

I do, except a) not in Linux because I have been too lazy to figure that out yet, and b) not as much as I'd like because my CPU isn't that great and won't go below 0.820 V stable.gunston wrote:qviri,
you guys don't undervolt as to increase the battery lasting hrs?
normally, i used RM clock utility for my T43.

Like previously stated, the X31 gets quite hot when the CPU is not undervolted. Personally, I have my CPU undervolted to .764 (600mhz) and 1.372 (1.6ghz). Unless I'm gaming, the laptop is lukewarm at best so it is definitely tolerable. I'm not sure how it compares to the T series as this is the first laptop I've owned.
Battery life:
My battery is a little over three years old and still has 79% of its charge left. At lowest brightness settings and just browsing the web I get 3:30 hours. Without wifi I get at least an extra thirty minutes (I tested idle time with wifi and idle time without wifi).
