Vista/XP dual boot problem

#1 Post by downloader666 » Wed Sep 12, 2007 1:36 pm

yes, I have searched this post but I cant seem to find a solution for my specific problem. I thought I did everything right. I got a t61 with vista ultimate preinstalled. I partition the hard drive into 4 drives and designated one for XP. I went into the bios and set sata to compatability mode. booted to my xp install disc, found the partition I wanted and installed it. Booted to XP and installed Windows Installer, .NET 2, and Vistaboot pro to the two drives with my OSs. when I rebooted all I saw was Vista in the load options. I booted to vista and went into Vistaboot pro and manually added the OS by selecting the boot drive (the diagnostics thing didnt recognise it when it ran on XP the 1st time or on vista). when I rebooted again there was the option I added but it gave me an error when I selected it. are the steps of my procedure out of order or is it something else? thanx
