Lost Sound on T42

I keep having issues with my laptop as of recent, but it is old-ish

anyway

I have a 2378FVU T42 laptop and just in the last few hours I lost all sound capabilites on it. I can't hear anything. I rebooted and didnt even hear the beeps that occur when you boot. I can't hear music, etc.

Would someone happen to know what I can do about this? Or if its a hardware problem?

EDIT: Issue resolved. thanks for the help. It was something not relating to the keyboard controls. Thanks again

Did you hit the mute button above the F5 key? Try hitting the volume up button several times (between the F4 and F5 keys).

Also, cold boot. As in, turn off, unplug, and remove battery.
