How to order an X61 or X61s with SXGA
How to order an X61 or X61s with SXGA
So, I am trying to order a new unit, but I cannot find a way to configure this on the lenovo site?
Are they just not available, SXGA or is there a secret code.
What is the diff between X61 and X61s?
Any thoughts on the best deal for these models. Thanks, I'm excited to have a new puter since four years!

No magic key available. Only X61t comes with SXGA+.
X61s comes with Low Voltage (LV) processor and is slimmer than X61 counterpart. For more detailed differences, I suggest you refer to tabook.

Even though you can order it by phone, you should expect a very long wait for the laptop to ship. The fact that the SXGA+ option has disappeared from the website means that Lenovo is having a hard time getting it from suppliers.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

That, and they still have the serious problem of the bezels coming UNGLUED from the LCD which they still have not addressed. I suspect they will not ship any more units until they have found a solution to this problem, which is discussed in detail here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=47509
Personally, I recommend that anyone considering an X61Tablet with an SXGA+ screen wait until Lenovo addresses this serious design flaw.

But Macbook keyboards are absolutely awful!mulder wrote:Or a MacBook which some longtime Thinkpads users have been driven to.
I was also wondering how to get an X-series with a higher resolution screen, as XGA has just not got enough space for me (I have 20/20 vision).
There is some sort of option on the Thinkpad website for an 'UltraLight' screen on the X60s/X61s. What exactly is this? Are they on par with VAIO and Macbook screens? Thinkpad screens have always been a bit crap in comparison, IMO, even though I love Thinkpads in every other way.

I've been weighing up the purchase of an X60 or X61 (having used an X41 for the past couple of years) but have concluded that the X6X no longer represents good value.
The screen resolution has fallen has fallen way behind that now offered elsewhere and, based on my T60, something tells me the keyboard on an X6X will be a crashing disappointment when compared to the X3X and X4X models.
I might hang onto my X41 but now have one eye on the Sony range of sub-notebooks.
