T40 1G SDRAM will they work???
I see in the manuel that there is no FRU# for 1G SDRAM for the T40. It shows one for the T41 FRU# 31P9835.
I would like to know if anyone has tried to install IBM or generic 1G SDRAM's in there T40 and did it work or not???
Thanks again everyone.

1GB PC2700 modules work. Many people have done it. I think when the T40 was introduced, there were no 1GB sticks, so 512MB was listed as the highest.

All the T4x series takes a max of 2GB of RAM as far as i know.... that's 2 x 1GB PC2100 (T40) PC2700 (T41-42) or PC4200 (T43)

I have used both IBM and Kingston PC2700 1GB sticks in my T40.Reo51St wrote:Should I buy IBM or generic???
If I can use IBM what P/N or FRU# should i get???
See :
http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configu ... -TP9828/1G
I first used an IBM 1GB PC2700 stick :
Mfgr's System P/N's: 31P9834 (IBM); 31P9835 (IBM)
Then I put it into a Dell Inspiron 1100 (also officially PC2100) and it worked fine there also.
I placed a new Kingston KTM-TP9828/1G (PC2700) into my T40 and it works fine too.
It may be easier/cheaper to find the Kingston stick on eBay than the IBM stick.
