#1 Post by Lyonesse222 » Sat Sep 15, 2007 11:33 am

Hi

Does anyone know How to disable the AC97 soundmax audio chip? I cant find an option to do this in bios...
I need it disabled as i intend to use the laptop as a music server and my external DAC which samples at 44.1khz cant understand the 48khz data stream coming from the soundmax audio chip

Thanks in advance

You can change the default sound device in Windows, or disabling the AC97 device in Windows. There is no BIOS option to disable the sound chip on my T42.

Can you place the T40 in a Docking station, and just add a PCI sound card that doesn't use AC97?

Can't you disable it in "device manager"?
