unknown device under vista x64 fresh install...
i just did a fresh install of vista ultimate x64 on a spare HDD and now have an unknown device in the device manager. this is the second time i've done a fresh install of vista and can't remember what driver was used for this device the first time around.
here are some details:
hardware IDs: USB\VID_162F&PID_4003&REV_0100 and USB\VID_162F&PID_4003
location: Port_#0006.Hub_#0007
physical name: \Device\USBPDO-10
bus GUID: {9d7debbc-c85d-11d1-9eb4-006008c3a19a}
instance path: USB\VID_162F&PID_4003\5&12809BEC&0&6
parent: USB\ROOT_HUB20\4&bd41048&0
any info is appreciated. thanks!

yeah, it is!
i ran thinkvantage system update immediately after the OS was installed and for some reason it never grabbed the WUSB software. Fn+F5 listed wifi/bluetooth/WUSB so i guess i assumed that it was already installed. next time i'll know not to assume that system update is a complete solution.
thanks!

System Update is missing many things, perhaps they are waiting to see how many people call in to complain before they push it with System Update.
More likely Lenovo is just not putting the time into it to maintain it properly.
ThinkPad T60p T7600 4 GB RAM 320 GB 7200 RPM HD Vista Ultimate Service Pack 2 5.1 4.7 4.2 4.6 5.8I just had the same problem doing a clean install of Vista Ultimate 32 from the Lenovo Recovery Disk set onto a brand new 7K200 drive.
I'll go grab the Vista 32 bit driver and see if that does it. Since the lights came on for the Bluetooth I thought it installed okay.
Crossing my fingers.

ahh, i don't feel so bad now if the WUSB driver isn't even installed by the recovery discs.
@barry: does your clean install of vista 32 allow you to set your fingerprint at power-on?

Erik, I'm not sure. I'll check for you. So far, during my configuration stage, I've bypassed password and fingerprint at logon.erik wrote: does your clean install of vista 32 allow you to set your fingerprint at power-on?
It's nice though. At reboot, I go straight to the desktop (and then have to click through the no password warning).

I followed the lead from this thread and I installed the Lenovo Support File 7kba12ww.exe Enhanced Bluetooth. Now I have two additional Network Adapters in Device Manager: "Bluetooth Device: Personal Area Network" and "Bluetooth Device: RFCOMM Protocol TDI" BUT I still have the same unknown device as before.
Did I install the correct drivers? Did I mess up the install? Did I overlook other drivers?
I found someone with an identical problem over on notebookreviews.com but no solution posted.

I got it fixed. After installing the file in my immediate previous post, I installed the "Wireless USB" support file.
This one was 7kxa18ww.exe Now my "unknown device" is known and installed.
I'm ready to image my drive before installing applications.

Re: unknown device under vista x64 fresh install...
I have a Lenovo T500 and it turned out to be the Modem Adapter Software for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad.
