Check for? manufacturer? If so then obtain the FRU # for your machine via lenovo's Parts Lookup page and do a search on that Service part number.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

AFAIK the Nokia Monitor Test tests for dead pixels and some other functions like proper monitor setup.

An alternative would be the ct' monitor test located here (you will need java runtime) http://www.heise.de/ct/ctscreen/. Vista by itself doesn't have any prog to test your monitor.
