Very Happy w. T60p

#1 Post by caseyse » Mon Sep 17, 2007 11:37 pm

I purchased a new T60p a few weeks ago, and have really been enjoying it. I had a T7600, IBM/Atheros a/b/g/n card (used my WWAN antenna), and 4GB of RAM waiting. Installed Win 2k3 Enterprise Svr and Gentoo AMD64 (dual boot - I'm almost always using Gentoo). Using the advanced dock w. an Adaptec PCIe U320 SCSI card, and an Eizo 2410w at 1920x1200 resolution.

It's fast, and been rock solid. I've compiled my entire OS overnight a couple of times, and never a problem. I'm sorry to hear that others have had their challenges with their new T6X machines, but I suspect most of the issues are software related (i.e., Microsoft). Been using Dells at work since early 2000. My current machine is a D620. While they are getting better, they don't come close to the Thinkpads.

I still have a T61 WUXGA on back order from early August (for the Wife). This will also receive Gentoo AMD64. I hope its as trouble free as my T60p.

 If a computer got issue dur to hardware, it will have issue regardless of the OS. Thinkpad like any hardware are not fail/issue proof.
