Does it exist for the T4X series and will it fit in any T4X machine without major modification? R5X machines? What if any would be the mod to make it fit?

I think the mod would be a different motherboard and a different case. Then the touchpad wouldn't fit, the LCD cable wouldn't reach and the lid wouldn't close. I think the practical solution would be a firewire PC card.

Yes, but then the question becomes, what is this part for then? (91P7353). Is this auction mislabled? Google has conflicting information on the part too. The bracket appears to be a panel replacement.....infrared maybe, so does that imply no case mods required?

I think that it might be the firewire board for the X3x series.
If you look at the pictures you can see it (or something very similar) on the left hand side of the notebook.

It's mislabeled then. Well if anyone has an x3x machine, this might be a good internal firewire solution ...

You have the right guy reading this thread. I have a whole pile of X31's here that are apart because I was clearing passwords. The IR/firewire card that plugs into the motherboard is 91P7394

That's pretty weird...my own Googling has revealed two possible descriptions of this FRU. One that shows up multiple times is indeed "T41 Firewire Board." The other is an X31 system/motherboard!

Does this FRU appear in either T4x or X3x HMMs? That would probably supply the definitive answer...I've never heard of ANY T4x with even a hope of internal firewire, so I personally have my doubts.
