WIFI question for T30

#1 Post by petteram » Tue Sep 18, 2007 2:55 pm

I have a T30 - 2366-N6G and would like to upgrade with a wifi card.
Antenna wires are already in place and the slot is free.
Can I use this card: http://www.deal.no/produkt.cfm?id=90333

You should be able to use that card, though odds are very good that you will have to use the no-1802 patch to make it work with your machine because it is non-IBM.

Are you sure? The text says IBM wireless.....
It actually cost more than the same card without the IBM in the text.
Long URL at mamoz.no

Update:
I have the bios version 2.10 and Embedded Controller Program Version 1.05.
This should support IBM 11bg Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter.

I would advise to get the non-IBM (cheaper) version from mamoz.no.
I had that same card originally in my own T30, then put it in my T23 when I got an Atheros card for the T30.

But then I will have to use the no-1802 patch...
How risky is this patch? Is it easy to do?

Have read some posts about this patch and it seems easy enough.
But does this patch also apply for other cards than Atheros?

To apply that patch is a no-brainer. You can either download that mini-program and run it from a bootabale DOS-disk, or get the .ISO file and burn that on a CD, to run it from there.

That (non-IBM) Intel card 2915 does not need the patch.

Thanx, thats all I need to know.
What about the "01C9 More than one Ethernet devices are found"?
Will this be an issue?

I will never use the modem I think. Can I just remove it?

Right. Why would a non-IBM card not require a patch if it's being placed in a T30?

I can't tell you why, but that 2915abg worked straight away in my T30.
It was a used card I bought on Ebay (from Australia).
Perhaps it was 'hacked' before I got it?

Today I ripped a Intel pro wireless 2200BG out of an Acer Aspire
and installed it in the T30. booted up and got the 1802 error.
Removed the card, did the no-1802 patch and installed the card again.
Booted up installed the latest drivers from Intel and voila, works perfect.
I`m a happy dude now:-)
