R40 processor upgrade?

#1 Post by hannesP » Tue Sep 18, 2007 3:11 pm

Hi,
This might be a stupid question, but can you swop out a 1.8 celeron M from an R40 and fit a 2.2 or even 2.6 celeron?
Thank you

It's all okay, but why not fit a P4-m instead?

That's for Centrino R40, MT2722/2723/2724.

But yours is obviously a Pentium-4 based R40, MT2681/2682/2683.

And the guide will not work.

Plus, even a Centrino based R40, Dothans are still not usable.

I'd go with pentium 4M as well. You can turn it into a VERY nice machine even with the most basic 2.0 processor...

I just did a processor swap on my R40. I swapped my 1.8GHz Celeron for a 2.4GHz Celeron because it was cheap. I noticed lower CPU usage in certain programs and better general perfomance. It's up to you what CPU you want to get. If you get a P4M... that's great (the extra boost never hurts). I thought I would share my experience with the processor swap.
