T60 Freezes on Standby

#1 Post by Snowman88 » Tue Sep 18, 2007 4:44 pm

Hi all. I have a T60 Widescreen, running Windows XP. I have noticed that on occasion, when the monitor shuts off due to inactivity, it will not come back on. The computer remains on, but the screen stays blank and I can't get it back. I have tried closing and reopining the lid, adjusting the brightness, and holding down the Fn key. Nothing seems to work.

This doesn't happen every time -- maybe one out of every 6 times. Moreover, I'm not sure if it's just the monitor going off, or if it's some combination of the monitor going off and the hard disk rotation stopping. Regardless, it's frozen to the extent that I have to hold down the power button and manually shut it off.

Anyone have any ideas? It's incredibly frustrating.

Thanks!!

Most time, this behaviour is due to a driver. Check if you have the leatest ones.

I had that problem once or twice and then it stopped, for some reason (most likely driver update).
However, when it happened, I did what someone here recommended here as a quick solution: activated the zoom feature (Fn + space bar) and the monitor came back on, and then I just got out of the zoom screen.

LCD out after coming out of stand-by

That for the reply !

I do have all the latest updates, however I still have the screen issue after coming out of Standby.

I will give the FN + Spacebar a try nex time I have a problem. Hopefully it will turn the lights back on............

Again, Thanks

I used Fn Spacebar for a while then tried Fn F7 twice. See if that works for you.
